Pumptec was founded with a simple philosophy in mind: build durable, high-quality pumps that work as hard as our customers.
Pumptec is founded in Minnesota by Jim Cook
Pumptec moved from “the garage” to its first facility in Brooklyn Park, MN and added more pump series
Developed Series 113 pump for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics
Significant innovation and growth requires another facility move to Ramsey, MN
Expanded facility to accommodate demand
Moved into its current facility in Anoka, MN, built to Pumptec’s needs
Several patents issued for innovative pumps, reverse osmosis, and equipment designs
Pumptec proudly remains a manufacturer of American-made pumps
Back in the late 1980s, pumps between .20 and 1.5 horsepower performed poorly, were too large, and too costly. Founder, Jim Cook, saw the need and started tinkering. Pumptec was born.
Jim, a pump industry veteran and son of Ernest Cook, founder of Hypro Engineering (Hypro Pumps), had a vision to fill this gap in the pump market. Because it was unprecedented in the marketplace, Jim had difficulty “selling” the idea. That is, until a start-up company in Minneapolis came along that needed a pump for its patented cleaning machine. Their equipment generated a lot of interest among competitors for its technology and "cute" pump.
Having proven itself, Pumptec’s sales in the market grew rapidly and they continue to dominate and innovate today by engineering equipment not previously possible. Examples include:
By remaining a U.S. manufacturer, Pumptec delivers innovation and customer care that offshore manufacturers simply can’t provide.
